Alaskan Eagles – USA

MAy 2006
There are more bald eagles in Alaska than there are in all other states combined. Residents blame the local bird woman for attracting them and have vowed to stop her.

“Ecologically, she’s totally unaware”, complains biologist Edgar Bailey. He claims that by feeding the eagles in an urban area, Jean Keene is threatening the ecosystem of the entire region. Already, the eagles have started attacking pets and there’s concern they pose a risk to babies. Some residents have taken matters into their own hands and started shooting the birds. Ironically, by trying to help the birds, the eagle woman seems to be putting them at risk.
